Florence was the daughter of Swedish immigrants, Johan Alexius Wiker and Ida Berglund. Johan changed his last name to Wicks. She was one of 9 children. Florence was raised in Brooklyn NY where she met her husband Joseph Gilmartin. They were married April 24th, 1940. Florence and Joseph had four children and 7 grandchildren. She lived in Lynbrook NY from 1950 until her husband passed away in 1993. Florence was active as a volunteer in local politics and community activities. She spent the last three years of her life with her daughter in the Atlanta Georgia area, where she died.
