"John Albert Quist (Carol's grandfather) ran a music store. He tuned pianos and was known for possessing perfect pitch. He was the choir director of a Swedish Baptist Church in Chicago. His daughter Elna (Carol's mother) was a gifted pianist and organist. After Signe Maria (second wife and Elna's mother) died, he married Ruth Quist. He died in Chicago."
